The Pentax DSmobile® USB portable scanner is designed to go hand in hand with your portable computing solution while providing the features and capabilities expected from a desktop scanner. This advanced technology sheet-feed scanner features a unique USB power/data interface, which avoids the need for a battery or an external power adapter. It provides high-speed, quality imaging - while weighing less than 12 ounces and measuring just 11 inches. The DSmobile USB provides everything needed to: scan documents from business card size to 8.5 x 14"; instantly transmit printed page documents via e-mail, fax or the Web; and scan and edit images or forms anywhere, anytime!

• Contact Image Sensor (CIS) - The DSmobile USB uses a Contact Image Sensor (CIS) instead of the traditional Charge Coupled Device (CCD). CIS presents several advantages over the CCD Optical Module such as:

  • Lighter in weight.
  • Lower Maintenance costs and fewer chances for mechanical breakdown.
  • Less power consumption.
• Operating Environment - Because of the size of the DSmobile USB, it can operate in the most confined workspace in the office and out.
• No External Power Adapter - The DSmobile USB features a unique USB power/data interface, which draws power directly from the PC and avoids the need for any external power adapter.
• Practically Maintenance-free Operation - The DSmobile USB's durable double shell internal design combined with few moving parts allows this scanner to go anywhere, anytime with little or no maintenance.
• Low Power Consumption - The DSmobile consumes only 0.2W of power when in standby mode and a maximum of 2.2W of power when scanning. Scanning from a laptop just became easier even when that laptop is running from the battery.
• Document Versatility - The DSmobile 24-bit true color scanner system is capable of 8-bit grayscale and B&W with a standard optical resolution of 300dpi (dots per inch).
• Ready To Use Out Of The Box - All software that is needed to scan, fax, attach e-mail, copy articles, and edit scanned documents is included with the Software CD.
• TWAIN Driver - A standard in image acquisition, TWAIN allows any TWAIN compliant software application to work with the Pentax DSmobile USB scanner.
